Find Jennings County Court Schedule

A Jennings County court schedule points you to the right courtroom on the right day, but it should never be your only check. To find a Jennings County court date, start with the live calendar, then match what you see to the case docket and note the court plus hearing type. Indiana calendars shift often, since judges grant continuances and rule on motions. Sealed and protected matters stay off public view too. A solid search pairs the calendar with the docket and a direct call to the court or clerk.

How the Jennings County Court Calendar Works

Indiana hosts the Jennings County Courts page. It pulls its schedule from the state events system. You get a Sunday-to-Saturday grid, a Today's Events tab, and a View All Events route. Entries load through JavaScript. A blank panel or a “Loading events” message does not mean nothing is set. Trust the live view, and when a cause number appears, open the case in MyCase.

Remember what a calendar entry is. It gives notice of a scheduled hearing, not a ruling. The Chronological Case Summary, or CCS, is the dated docket-event list. A continuance, order, or other change may show up there later. Administrative Rule 9 names the core remote fields: case number, caption, date, time, and location. Write down the court and the judge or magistrate. Add the courtroom, the proceeding type, and any cancelled or continued status.

The official all-events route carries the live state service.

Official Jennings County Courts dynamic calendar

The Jennings County court schedule is a live feed that updates, not a fixed list you can rely on from one week to the next.

Jennings Calendar Versus CCS

The calendar and the CCS answer different questions. One tells you when and where a proceeding should happen. The CCS records court activity in date order instead. A pretrial date does not mean a trial took place. A hearing label never states the result. After the setting, check MyCase for a public docket entry. Or call the clerk if the display leaves you guessing.

Source Best use Limit
Jennings calendar Upcoming date, time, event Dynamic and subject to change
MyCase CCS Filings, settings, orders, outcomes Not every document is public online
Court or Clerk Confirmation and official file Contact the office tied to the need

This gap matters most after a reset. One docket entry may still carry the old date while a later entry lists the new setting. So read the entries in order.

Jennings County Court Date Lookups

Use every channel when a court date drives travel, attendance, or a deadline. Online tools are fast. A direct confirmation is the safer last step.

  1. Open the official Jennings calendar and inspect View All Events.
  2. Use Indiana MyCase by cause number or name, then read the CCS for later settings.
  3. When the court is unclear, check both 40C01 Jennings Circuit Court and 40D01 Jennings Superior Court.
  4. Call Circuit Court at (812) 352-3082 or Superior Court at (812) 352-3087 to confirm the time and courtroom.
  5. For the official CCS, contact Amy Thompson, Jennings County Clerk, at (812) 352-3070 or ask at the Clerk's counter.
  6. Review any notice or order received in the case. No separate printed-calendar distribution was found.

Both courtrooms sit inside the Jennings County Courthouse at 24 North Pike Street in Vernon, with Superior Court on the first floor and Circuit Court on the second. Enter on the west side and pass through security. The Clerk also lists a separate government-center address, so confirm your destination before you go. Hours are not posted consistently, so call ahead.

Jennings Court Assignment Matters

Jennings runs two courts of record, each with its own Odyssey code. Circuit uses 40C01. Superior uses 40D01. Local rules send most felonies, estates, guardianships, juvenile matters, adoptions, and mental-health cases to Circuit. Superior handles misdemeanors, infractions, ordinance matters, small claims, protection orders, new family cases, and most civil claims. An existing family case can stay where it was first filed.

The cause number tells you the court. A setting tied to 40C01-YYMM-CT-##### belongs to Circuit, and 40D01-YYMM-CM-##### identifies Superior. Transfers can change the expected path. Indiana law abolishes Superior Court after December 31, 2026. Yet 40D01 may still appear in current listings, so recheck any post-transition setting.

Assignment also drives the best phone call. Circuit publishes PO Box 386 and (812) 352-3082. Superior publishes PO Box 490 and (812) 352-3087. Both courtrooms are in Vernon. The separate contacts help staff find the right calendar fast. If a notice and MyCase disagree on the court label, give staff the full cause number. A name alone is not enough.

Jennings Court Settings: What Each Field Means

Read a setting as a cluster of fields. A single line can mislead. The event type tells you what the court plans to address, while the date, time, and place tell you when and where it happens.

Date The scheduled day, subject to a later order.
Time The stated start, not a promise of an immediate call.
Court Circuit, Superior, or another named tribunal.
Location The room or building in the current notice.
Judicial officer The listed judge or magistrate, which can change.
Proceeding Initial hearing, pretrial, motion, trial, sentencing, review, or jury selection.
Cause number The identifier matching the event to MyCase.
Status A continued or cancelled marker when supplied.

Protected names and private contact details do not belong in any republication. Indiana Access to Court Records Rules 4 and 5 allow the courts to exclude juvenile, CHINS, adoption, mental-health, sealed, and some protection-order material.

When a Jennings Court Date Moves

Asking for a continuance does not move the hearing by itself. Jennings guidance calls for a written request at least ten days before court. Include the reason, service on each party, and current contact details. The form asks whether the other side agrees. It requests a span of days or weeks rather than a self-picked date. Emergencies and open-court exceptions exist. Only the court approves the change.

Keep checking until an order or new setting appears, then confirm it. An item that vanishes tells you nothing. You cannot tell whether it was continued, cancelled, or simply dropped from the feed. The CCS may list the motion first and the ruling later.

A filed motion is not permission to miss court. Treat the original setting as active until the judge enters an order or court staff confirms the change.

Jennings Hearing-Day Rules

Jennings pages ask for business-casual attire, silent phones, no weapons, and no unauthorized recording or photography, and the local rule extends the recording ban to courtrooms and nearby halls. Private talks with the judge are off limits. Staff cannot give legal advice.

Media recording needs a Camera in Court Request under the local Rule 2.17 process, filed at least five business days before the proceeding, and approval may require pooling, delayed broadcast, or limited capture.

The Jennings JRAC archive holds agendas and meeting material.

Those meetings concern policy and programs, not an individual case schedule.

Jennings Court Schedule Context

Want context for the Jennings County court schedule? Look at trial statistics, but know their limits. They measure judicial workload, not hearing dates. The 2024 report puts Jennings Circuit at 1.40 need, 2.00 capacity, and 0.70 utilization. Superior comes in at 0.69, 1.00, and 0.69. The county total is 2.10, 3.00, and 0.70. None of these figures are clearance rates, case percentages, or a prediction about your matter. For the full set of reports and provisional data, the Indiana statistics hub publishes them directly.

Numbers explain workload; the live calendar and CCS still answer whether a Jennings County hearing is set.

Jennings Missed Settings and What Comes Next

Missed a court date in Jennings County? Act now. Check the CCS, call the assigned court, and talk to counsel if you have one. Skipping a criminal or traffic setting can trigger a failure-to-appear response. That can mean a warrant. It can also mean a bond consequence, or a BMV report where one applies. In a civil case, the court may simply proceed without you. Outcomes turn on the case and the order entered.

An empty calendar does not mean the issue went away. Ask the clerk for the current setting. Ask whether a filing or appearance is required. The Jennings docket search walks through MyCase fields and court filters.

Missed a setting? Call the court or Clerk promptly and ask what the official docket requires.

If represented, contact counsel before filing or appearing alone.

Jennings Jury Dates Use Another Route

Jury service runs on its own track. A party-name search or the public case calendar will not tell you anything about it. The official Jennings Juror Information Sheet covers entry, parking, security, and floor locations. A separate local form handles disqualification and statutory exemption. It also allows deferral of up to one year for undue hardship, extreme inconvenience, or public necessity. It requests private juror details that have no place in a public docket.

Follow the summons, the juror sheet, and the jury office. Guessing from Today's Events is a mistake. Only the court can grant an exemption or deferral. Jury administration stays separate from a case hearing. An in-person juror still uses the same screened west entrance as everyone else. Filing the form alone does not excuse attendance.

Free parking sits around Courthouse Square and nearby side streets, per the juror sheet. Accessible spaces are marked east and west, with a ramp at the west entrance. Those are arrival details only. The summons controls your report date and time.
